Zili Lane is near the Liberation Monument(解放碑) hiding the most touching imprints of Chongqing .These hardworking men carrying loads on their shoulders with bamboo poles.They’re the living spirit of the city. 解放碑旁的自力巷，藏着重庆最动人的人文印记。那群手持棒棒、肩扛重担的“山城脊梁”，是我深爱着的这座城市最鲜活的精神符号。
Back in the 1980s and 90s, because of Chongqing’s hilly terrain and the need to move stuff around, the bang bang job came to life.上世纪八九十年代，因山城崎岖地形带来的运输需求，“棒棒”职业应运而生。
With a thick wooden pole and a few meters of rope, they climbed up stone steps and wandered through narrow alleys.他们带着一根杯口粗的木棒和一根三五米的粗绳，穿梭于石阶和小巷里。
In Zili Lane, you can see them squatting by the street or walking steadily with heavy goods.It became one of the city’s most authentic scenes.自力巷里，他们蹲守街边的身影、扛货时坚定的步伐，与周边的繁华楼宇相映，成了最具烟火气的山城风景。
The documentary The Last Bang Bang brought them into the spotlight. 纪录片《最后的棒棒》让他们走进更多人视野.
Guys like Old Huang and Old Gan stuck with this job for decades.Even though life was tough, money was little, and they lived simply, they kept going—strong and stubborn. That’s just how Chongqing people are: straightforward, tough, and never giving up. 老黄、老甘们数十年的坚守，即便面对生活艰辛与即将消失的行业困惑，尽管生活艰辛、收入微薄、居住简陋，他们仍靠坚韧与力气谋生活。
Nowadays, even with modern transport, some bang bang are still holding on Zili Lane.如今，虽有现代交通替代，仍有棒棒在自力巷坚守
It’s not just a job—it’s a legacy. It shows how people in this mountain city live in tune with nature and never back down from a challenge.他们不仅是一份职业的延续，更是山城人“与山水共生、向困境突围”智慧的传承。
Every time I walk through Zili Lane and see these men with their poles, I feel proud to be from Chongqing.每次走过自力巷，看到那些棒棒的身影，都让我生为重庆人感到自豪。
